Elsewhere on the web, Brigid at Mostly True Tales gave us a nice little mention and we also received a shout out from our webcomic brethren at Border Crossings. The first Necessary Monsters trade paperback is coming out in February from AiT/PlanetLar. The book collects the complete story so far, including updated artwork across all five chapters and a brand new introduction by Kieron Gillen (Phonogram, S.W.O.R.D, Thor). If you’ve enjoyed reading the series online, myself and Sean would really appreciate you showing that support by ordering a copy of the print edition. For the reader it’s bloody brilliant stuff. Just as clichéd (in the best context of the word) as the first couple of issues. A cracking spy-horror thriller, full of nastiness, plenty of gore, rapid action and tremendous setpieces. Just like I’d been expecting.

Again, Goodbrey’s writing is a big draw to the book and I’m expecting him to get very successful in the US anytime soon, but Necessary Monsters is also Sean Azzopardi’s book, with his artwork, all stark black and white stuff, perfectly laid out for maximum energy and storytelling.
